    Family Day!

Today was our weekly family day and we went to the Santa Ana Zoo! We have been so excited to try it out, and to be honest it was a bit of a let down. It is really tiny (maybe the length of the parking lot at Disneyland) and there really aren't many animals there. We were only there for an hour before we had seen it all and were ready to go home! When we got home we went to the pool and that was pretty fun. Kate is getting good at kicking. She says "Kick kick kick" and kicks her legs. I think it's time for swimming lessons?!

Although it is nice to have a Zoo in OC, I think next time we want to see animals we'll go to the real Zoo in San Diego. Or heck, we'll just go to Disneyland...at least that's free!

    Comments:
Lyndee:  I would go to either place....I just want to come see my baby!!! And yes Donnie I was talking about you! HA HA
Tina:  Oh, bummer!!! Sounds like we should we skip the "Sunset at the Zoo"...

    New words, new games

Kate is picking up words FAST. She will try to repeat anything you ask her to. She is picking up words constantly. Some of my current favorites are that she will ask and sign for "more" food between every bite until she is finished and then she is certain to tell you she is "done"! When she wakes up the first thing I do is change her diaper then I feed her, and now she asks and signs for "milk" the entire time I change her, because she is hungry and she knows it's coming! She also loves bananas, and if she sees one or if she thinks you say the b-word, she will sign for more and say "Nana! Nana!" constantly. She's pretty darn adorable. She's even saying "Thanks" now...when you remind her to! Her vocabulary is honestly too large to list here, and it's growing every day!

She is also playing new games. She plays "go to work" and she came up with it by watching us! She takes a bucket and drapes it over her arm like a purse, and then she tells each of us in the room bye-bye and kisses us goodbye, then she goes behind the couch. We always tell her "bye-bye! Have a good day at work!" And then when she comes out again, we have a big welcome home for her with hugs and all. She will do this over and over for a long time. It's funny how she plays pretend.

We are blessed with a pretty funny young lady!

Note to everyone: No bad words in front of Kate, she will try to say them!

    Our Anniversary!

Tonight was our 2 Year Wedding Anniversary! We were very blessed to have a sitter, and Mom & Dad went out alone together for the first time since 2 weeks before Katelyn was born! We went to Napa Rose for dinner, and it was AMAZING! It was really nice to talk and reconnect and not have to clean up and take care of our little one. We missed her, but we really enjoyed our time alone together! The best part was, Donnie got wine pairing with each course and then we had Champagne together at the beginning and end of the meal. It was delicious!

After dinner, we went over to Disneyland and watched Fantasmic! It was D's first time seeing the show and it was so nice to do something alone together. (By then she was already asleep so we didn't even feel guilty, heehee!)

It was a really nice anniversary!

Tina:  Happy Anniversary! So glad you two had a great celebration. I still can't believe this was the first time without Kate!

    Happy Father's Day!

Today we went to visit Oma & Opa. We went to lunch and visited Oma's horses and donkey. It was fun! Kate LOVED looking at the horses - as with all Disney Characters and animals, she will not touch, but she loves to look! When we got home, Daddy made us Tri Tip for dinner and Kate and I went to the park so Kate could run around in the grass. She loved it.

Kate is doing animal noises now. She can do dog, cat, and after today she can do horse. It's so fun teaching her.

We've been doing the kiddie songs with her like Itsy Bitsy Spider, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, etc. We always show her the hand signs and she loves it, but today she started trying to do the signs too. So fun!

    Babbling Kate

Kate is babbling at lot right now, and she's also picking up some new words. This morning when she woke up and I was changing her, I thought I saw two new teeth coming in on the top. I asked her to see her teeth and she pointed at her teeth and said "brush"! Then after breakfast I was drinking water and she wanted some, she made the water sign and said "wawa"! I was playing peekaboo with her yesterday and she said something that sounded an awful lot like "Katelyn". I can't be sure, I hope she says it again. Then last night she was being naughty and I was holding her in the new time out spot and she said "Time" - Donnie and I both heard her. She's also saying "Nana" for banana. And "night night" at naps/bedtime.

This talking stuff is happening FAST!!!

Tina:  Wow, she's saying so much! Time out? Oh man, Noah has no idea what that is.

    Family Day

Today it was just the three of us. We decided to go to Disney's California Adventure to take Kate to see Playhouse Disney. It was really cute, and it kept her attention for all the time Mickey and Little Einsteins were on stage. She loved seeing Mickey Mouse and all of the bubbles. Then we went over to Paradise Pier where they were doing Cast Member Testing of the new Attraction, Toy Story Midway Mania. Mommy got to go while Daddy & Kate waited patiently, which was fun! I got a new high score - 144,600! Woohoo! And it's not even open yet! =)

We got home and got steaks from Lone Star for dinner. We used to eat there all the time while I was pregnant...the food there is so good!

We had a really nice day with the three of us. Now that I am working every Saturday, we really treasure these "family days" together!
