Disney's Family Holiday Party
Today we went to the Disney Family Holiday Party with the Team Thompson Family. Noah's walking is amazing, it's almost as if he was never hurt. He is such a little blessing! There was one incident that I have to take blame for...Kate and Noah were walking and holding hands, and I told Kate to give him a big hug. She went running at him and gave him the hug, which was so cute, but then she knocked him backwards and his sweet little head smacked on the concrete. They both cried a little bit and Chad gave Noah a pep talk that he did a good job being a gentleman, taking the fall for the girl. Poor Noah! But after a few minutes he was back to his crazy self, thank goodness!
We had a great day at Disneyland, the Family Holiday Parties are always a treat, especially being able to spend them with wonderful friends.

Donnie's Surgery
Tomorrow morning first thing, Donnie is going to have surgery on his shoulder from a baseball injury. His recovery time is projected to be six weeks. We are not sure to what extent he will not be able to use his right arm during this time, but he has been told he cannot lift for this amount of time, except for at-home physical therapy. The nurse on the phone today told me that they may restrict his driving for up to a week. That is no good because he needs to go back to work on Friday! We are both taking Wednesday and Thursday off for his surgery and immediate recovery.
Please say a prayer that the surgery will go smoothly and well, and that he will recover quicker than anticipated and not be in too much pain. Please say a prayer for me that I will have extreme amounts of patience and energy as the majority of work with Kate and chores will have to be done without his help during the recovery process. We also pray that Kate will have some realm of understanding that Daddy has an "owie" and cannot play crazy like normal for a while. The B family needs your prayers!
Thank you!
Comments:Sue: Well, dangit! I should have read your baby site before I responded to your facebook post. I feel sooooo stoopid now. Now that I think about it, of course Donnie does not need any figure enhancing surgery - he's perfect just the way he is...er, will be in six weeks!Tina: You have our prayers for sure! Get well soon, Donnie!!!Add a comment:

95-degree day!
It was 95 degrees today! Is it really November?
We have been so worried about the fires, but today we just had to get out of the house. We went to Disneyland and had so much fun! Kate met Minnie Mouse and Goofy and really enjoyed it for the first time. We played a lot at the Toontown playground, and checked out Innoventions. Innoventions was kind of a dud, but we did get to Karaoke, which was the best thing there!
For all of our friends who are in danger, we are praying for you and your homes. Please let us know if we can do anything.Comments:Add a comment:

Playing blind
I don't quite know how this evolved, but we have a game where Kate will scrunch up her eyes and pretend to be blind. We have to make a big deal about it and say "Oh no! She's blind!" and she runs around being blind. It's pretty funny. I took a picture of her eating her breakfast this morning - Cocoa Pebbles in milk and a banana, and when I told her to smile, she decided to smile and be blind. She's definitely got an interesting sense of humor!Comments:EC: Gee, I wonder where she gets that fromAdd a comment:

Speaking in sentences
This week was another amazing week for Kate's verbal skills. She is speaking brief sentences! I don't know if it's been going on a while and we haven't really realized it, but she has been saying this such as "Read book Mama", "Rock-a-bye" or "Look! I feed Mama!" The other night when we put her to bed I stood over her stroking her hair and telling her I love her and she said "Don't leave Mama." How precious!
And she is still saying "I love you" instead of "I love", but it sounds more like "I love la"
She's already getting that only child syndrome of saying LOOK! when she wants you to watch something she is doing.
But with all of her progress, she is very strong willed. She has tantrums all the time. We try to ignore her or give her timeouts when there is a real problem (like biting me, or coloring with crayon on the white tile floor). Could we be starting the beginning of terrible twos already?Comments:Tina: She's so smart! :) Noah started his terrible 2's early...good luck!Add a comment:

Kate said I love you!
I have been working on her with this for months, and she finally said it "I love you"! This morning over a breakfast of cereal, milk, and bananas with the three of us. I am so excited!
Until now, she has said "I love" and it ends there. When prompted, she will say "I love Mama" "I love Dad-dy", but the "I love you" is really special.
I know I am really behind on journaling Kate's updates and milestones, and I will catch up...hopefully this week. So stay tuned for more news coming soon!Comments:Add a comment:

Kate's first movie
Kate loves High School Musical 1 and 2. She loves the movie, the dancing, the songs - it's something that we love together! So now that High School Musical 3 is in the theaters, we thought we would give it a try with Kate. After all, she will sit on the couch and watch a tv show or movie if we let her, right? So we got there right at the movie's start time and got an aisle seat. We even went to the theater in Downtown Disney so it would be as "family friendly" as possible. Well, Kate loved the big screen! She was transfixed through all of the previews. We were thrilled! It seems as if the instant the movie started, she was ready to party. She was singing out loud, talking, saying "YAAY!" and clapping her hands after musical segments. It would have been fine at home, but she didn't get the "theater" thing.
Although we trying to be far away from other people and keep her as least disruptive as possible, we wound up leaving 1 hour into it. The theater people were really nice (and probably thankful that we left before becoming a problem), and they even gave us two tickets to come back another time. Oh well, at least we tried!Comments:Add a comment:
