Grumpy Grumpy Girl
Poor Kate, she is getting her second molar in and it really hurts her. She won't eat much, and she whines and cries all the time. Between the tantrums and the whining, I pray every day for extra patience! The whining really started on Friday and as of today, she hasn't whined once! (So I am really hoping that is over!) But as of this morning, molar #2 has officially broken the surface. It is astounding to see how huge they are once they come in. Poor Kate, she has a lot more to go!Comments:Add a comment:

Temper Tantrums
So if you hear a child having a screaming fit the next time you are in a public place, look for me! Katelyn has taken to having crazed temper tantrums. Her doctor has advised that we ignore them and don't give her any attention at all...that if she learns she gets attention she will keep it up. So for now, we suffer! It's so hard to not watch her because she is such a spectacle! Wish us luck with this one!Comments:Add a comment:

Happy Birthday Noah and Tina!
This week is Noah's 2nd Birthday and Tina's Birthday too! Donnie and Kate went to Noah's house to celebrate his birthday with the family, and they came home with a GOLDFISH! So of course, Daddy had to "Pimp My Fish" and get the whole 10 gallon tank, a heater, a filter, fancy decorations...and two more fish! So now Kate has fish. She loves them, she tells them HI and BYE and is so excited to see them and watch them swim around. She is now really good at making fishie faces. Thanks, Thompsons! Fish are fun!!! And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!Comments:Tina: Thanks, Banister family! :) We are glad Kate likes her fish. LOL at Donnie becoming a fish freak.Add a comment:

Kate's 15 Month Checkup
Today I took Kate to the Doctor for her 15 month checkup. The Doctor said she is doing really good with language and verbal skills. She said that we (including Nanny Emily!) are doing great at reading to her and teaching her new things, and to keep it up! They wanted to give her 2 shots: Tetanus and MMR...but I am very wary of too many shots at once. I prefer to keep her on a delayed shot schedule, so she goes in once a month for a shot, instead of getting 2-4 at one time. I think that's just too much, and there are so many theories about shots it concerns me. So we only gave her 1 shot, the MMR...and next month she gets her Tetanus shot. Ouch! She actually did really well at the Docs, she didnt freak out or cry except when the needle went in and out. But she was in a good mood overall, must have been that grape lollipop! YUM!
Her 15 month measurements:
Height - 30" (30th Percentile)
Weight - 21.2 Pounds (50th Percentile)
Head - 18.25" (60th Percentile)Comments:Add a comment:

First Molar
Kate's first Molar is officially IN! When you look in her mouth, it is on the bottom on the right. It's HUGE! She had a little diaper rash for a few days this week, it came suddenly and we used the prescription stuff and it went away after about 3 days. (Love that stuff!) I have read that diaper rash can be a sign of new teeth, guess that may be true!? Now I see a little white bud on the left side on the bottom, so that must be molar #2. Our official tooth count is up to 9 now!Comments:Add a comment:

Kate's first Quake
Yesterday Donnie and I were at work and Kate was home with her wonderful Nanny. Just before noon, there was an earthquake which felt very strong. Stuff was flying across my office, the dry erase board attached to my wall came off, pictures fell, my water bottle fell over and spilled, my filing cabinet drawers all opened up -it was really rough & scary. It lasted a long time - long enough for me to get under my desk, get up and get my phone and get under my desk again. While it was going on I was just praying and praying that Kate would be okay. After it was done everyone on our floor was yelling! I grabbed my purse, Blackberry, phone and ipod and we all evacuated the building.
I was trying and trying to call the Nanny's cell and the house phone to see if Kate was okay and I couldn't get through. I started to panic because I didn't know how strong the quake was, where it was centered or anything. Donnie got through to me and I knew he was okay, but I was still freaking out because we couldn't get the Nanny! I was about to drive home and check on them when I finally got through on the land line (that is why it is GOOD to have a land line phone!). Thank the Good Lord they were both fine. They were upstairs and Emily was holding Kate at the time.
I text messaged and emailed our Colorado Family to let them know we were all okay in case they heard about it on the news. Apparently Disneyland got hit pretty hard, it was ALL over the news! Luckily there was only little damage done. Praise God!
Our family needs to come up with a better plan for emergencies, for a way to get in touch with each other. I can't imagine how terrifying it would be if there was a big quake and we couldn't talk to each other to know that we were all okay. I'll be happy with these little ones to let the earth relieve its pressures, so we don't get the "BIG ONE" they have been talking about forever.Comments:Tina: I am always asking Chad what's the best thing to do if "x" happens, or when "y" does, etc., and we were just talking about this again this past weekend. How do I carry both boys? What windows can we squeeze out of? It's definitely good to figure it all out.Add a comment:

I haven't blogged in a long long time!
In the last few weeks we went to the OC Fair, went down to Sea World and have just been doing normal stuff. Kate can say "I don't know" now, and it's so funny. I put a barette in my hair the other day and she went nuts pointing and saying "pretty! pretty!" which was really sweet.
She went through a stage this month where she didn't want anything to do with me and she just wanted Daddy. She would only go to Daddy, only want him to do stuff for her, only give him kisses. It made me a little sad but I know it's a natural stage of development - it also lessened my workload a bit, ha! But I think she is coming out of that now, she is giving me kisses again and new this week - she is giving big hugs!
Kate really is a sweet little girl, but man does she have a temper! She loves my Blackberry and my car keys, and when I take them away from her out of necessity she FLIPS OUT. If you ever hear a kid in a mall screaming, it's probably my child. I'm sorry!

Allergies
I'm not sure if we're going to go through with the Allergy shots/bloodwork after all. We started sneaking some milk into her bottles yesterday and she has had no reaction so far. No face rash, no diarrhea, no hives. This is great news, she may have really outgrown the allergy! Wish us luck!
Congratulations to the Ruffners -they just bought a new house and are moving in this week, the same time as their 1 year anniversary which is tomorrow! Woohoo! Next stop, babies?!?!?! =)Comments:Add a comment:

Kates Visit to the Allergist
On Thursday we finally got Kate into the Allergist referred by her Pediatrician. They were really nice there and they took our family histories of asthma and allergies. The Dr said poor Kate is "cursed" because of Mommy's health history. Poor Kate. =( But they ordered a lot of bloodwork to be done to determine once and for all WHAT her allergies are!
The Dr said to keep her foods restricted until we get the bloodwork results, but we are debating on trying it ourselves and then determining if we want to put her through the bloodwork after all.
However, we have been doing a little experimenting lately. We've been giving Kate foods made with trace amounts of dairy and guess what..she hasn't been reacting! So today I am putting trace amounts of milk in her bottles and keeping an eye on her. We are thinking she may have grown out of her allergies, which would be AWESOME!
We're so not sure what we are going to do yet...but I'll definitely keep it posted here in her record books. We did get her face rash to go away (knock on wood) and it's been gone for a few weeks now which is great. =)Comments:Tina: When do you get the results?!! Oh my goodness, you all must be so anxious. I know I would be. That is great that Kate is doing fine with milk! What a relief for you!!! :)Add a comment:
